Beautiful Riad in an Excellent but Quiet Location, Lovely Host

We really enjoyed our stay at Riad dar Othmane. Hassan was a lovely host who sent us tons of information and recommendations up front via WhatsApp and welcomed us into his beautiful riad with a lovely mint tea and biscuits. He was incredibly helpful and generous throughout our trip and was even kind enough to inform us of the flight shutdowns due to Corona after we had left his hotel. The riad is located in a pleasant, quiet street close to local businesses and homes, but is also close to shops, markets and many attractions in Marrakech. We could pretty much reach everything we wanted to on foot. The riad itself is beautifully decorated and has a serene little inside courtyard as a breakfast and lounge area. The breakfast was amazing, consisting of bread, pancakes, varying kinds of baked sweets, fresh strawberries, jam, cream cheese, eggs, hot chocolate, coffee and of course mint tea. It was really filling and we really enjoyed starting our days with nice slow breakfasts before going exploring. The room we rented was fairly small, but nicely and lovingly decorated and the bathroom was equipped with everything we needed. Shower was one of the better one we experienced in Marokko, it took a little while to warm up but then was great. The lighting wasn't great, but the room had a nice cozy feel regardless. Rooms were cleaned and tidied every day. We really enjoyed our time at Riad dar Othmane and would immediately stay here again if in Marrakech. Again, a huge thanks to our kind host for taking such great care of us and for providing so much good information. We are so grateful for everything!

Wifi was a bit patchy, but totally adequate for our travel needs. Other than that, everything was wonderful!

Our stay at Riad dar Othmane was a great one and we will certainly return year.

Breakfast was really good although it would certainly help having more food choices. The inside garden was really nice The host was helpful with whatever questions we had

WIFI didn't reach the room at the bottom floor properly The rooms are not soundproofed at all and you can hear everything that is going on in the inside small garden in the middle.

Good value for money.

The location is good, it takes you about 10 minutes to get to the Jama El f'na. Our rooms were tidied every day, also the breakfast was good, but it could have changed more. On our first day, the owner showed us around a little and gave us some tips, he also arranged transport to and from the airport.

The wifi does not work in the rooms, only in the halls and breakfast area. The carpets were quite dusty and the rooms were small but functional. I was very dissapointed by the owner on our last day as he was in a terrible mood and ignored us as we said goodbye. Keep in mind hat you will be woken before 6 every morning as they call to prayer at that time and the mosque is very close.

Good place to stay if You like to explere Medina of Marrakech!

The Owner is very helpfull, friendly and communicative. Breakfast was good. Accomodation cozzy, daily cleaned. Localization just 2 minutes walk from popular streets of Medina.

This place felt like home

Riad Dar Othmane contributed making our experience of this city absolutely excellent. Hassan, the owner, has helped out a lot with suggestions, advices, excursions booking, and literally took care of every detail to make us feel like home. The room was comfortable, the riad stunning and close to the main square. 100% recommended.

The host was very nice and kind, the room was wanderful and qiute. The shower was big and clean. The breakfast was enough and tasty. Highly recommanded!

The place is hard to find because there is no label or any sing of the Riad, only a dark door. The host sent a trolleyman to pick us up at the parking place so we did not get lost, but if the place would have a table woth its name on it, then there would be no problem finding it alone.

Good looking Riad but not too hospitable.

The Riad was very clean and very tastefuly designed. The rooms itselves had been cleaned everyday and there was even a door to the bathroom. Breakfast time is from 07:30 to 09:30 a.m. but if you order in advance it can be served even earlier. The breakfast itself is ok but lacks of variation if you stay longer than 3 days. It’s also possible to check in earlier if people leave before midday and you can deposit your luggage on the day you leave and go for a last walk in the city.

If you decide to go to Riad Dar Othmane you will get a lot of information via WhatsApp which sounds good at first glance but if you don’t answer the messages on time the owner of the riad gets very angry and uncomprehending. We were traveling with my mother in law (she booked an extra room using her mobile number) who hardly speaks any english and because she didn’t answer to the messages one month before our departure he got so angry forcing her to cancel the reservation. When I tried to settle the problem by explaining everything he got even angrier because he said it was my fault that I didn’t tell him in advance. We could only solve the problem by calling the Booking.com support who called the owner and settled everything. Otherwise he wouldn’t have accepted our reservation forcing us to cancel and he kept on sending me pictures of other Riads that would rather take us. When we arrived we were supposed to be welcomed by the manager of the Riad who was very sad that things worked out as they did. When we left the riad early one morning without saying that we didn’t have any time for breakfast he got also mad with us because I didn’t tell him in advance. When I tried to apologize he wouldn’t even listen. That is not a way you treat guests. We always felt more like unwanted but tolerated people. On the day we left he didn’t even shake hands and hardly said goodbye. As a guest I would rather feel more welcomed than being afraid about hurting my host‘s feelings. The payment is preferred in the local currency „Dirham“ but you will never find as good an exchange rate as the bill tells you so it’s better to pay in Euros for example. If you want the pickup service at the airport offered by the Riad it’s 18€ for 2 persons or 20€ for 3 as in our case but I would rather suggest a taxi since everyone speaks at least English, French or Spanish and it will approximately cost you 80 dirhams which is 8€.

Very nice Riad

Beautiful Riad, the room was spotlessly clean and all facilities were provided. A nice quiet comfortable place to stay with good wifi. Hassan met us at the riad with a lovely mint tea and biscuits. The breakfast is top notch and plenty of it. Hassan is a very nice man, a quiet gentle sort of man and very professional. He got us a little gift on our last night which we really appreciated! We enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend. Thank you Hassan!

The location is a short walk outside the medina but if you put the location in your maps and refuse all offers of "directions" from passers by, you will be fine.
